Bart Nooitgedagt, LL.M. is a lawyer with extensive experience in large and complex criminal cases including the areas of money laundering, (the financing of) terrorism, fraud, organized crime (including drug cases) and politically oriented criminal and human rights cases. He also has extensive experience in procedures relating to the confiscation of the proceeds of crime.
Nooitgedagt represents both individuals and companies in criminal proceedings before the courts, the appeals courts, the Supreme Court of the Netherlands and the European Court of Human Rights. Furthermore he is considered an expert in the field of international criminal law, including extradition matters. He assists Dutch prisoners abroad and has experience in providing legal aid in jury trials in the UK. As a result of these extradition cases and the assistance to extradited clients, he has gained a lot of experience of the legal system in the United States of America. He regularly advises on issues relating to publicity and how to deal with (social) media attention.
Nooitgedagt studied criminal law at The Queen's University of Belfast in Northern Ireland, at the Université de Paris I, Panthéon- Sorbonne in France and at the University of Amsterdam. He graduated on the field of insider trading.
After 10 years of successfully managing his own law firm, in 2013 he returned as a partner to De Roos & Pen, where he had completed his traineeship in 2000 and had been employed as an associate for several years. Before that time he was an intern at the law firm of NautaDutilh in the Paris office and he worked at the banking and securities and criminal law sections of the Amsterdam office.
Nooitgedagt gives courses for the bar and regularly guest lectures at universities and other educational institutions on the areas of money laundering, cybercrime and international criminal law and he regularly publishes in legal journals and other media.
Nooitgedagt is the chairman of both the Dutch Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Civil Rights Protection Foundation.
